June 6–13, 2027 | Week 1

Troop 11 is headed to Camp Strake in Coldspring, Texas for Summer Camp 2027! Get ready for a full week of merit badges, outdoor adventures, advancement, and fun.

Drive Time: Approximately 3 hours, 22 minutes

  1. RSVP to the Scoutbook calendar event — whether you are attending or not.
  2. Complete the Camp Strake registration survey/form.

Please complete the survey once for each participant.

$100 deposit guarantees your spot at camp and allows you to register for classes when registration opens.

Mission Lone Star High Adventure Scout — $760 Total

The Mission Lone Star program adds $250 to the regular Scout camp cost.

⭐ MISSION LONE STAR — HIGH ADVENTURE

Mission Lone Star is Camp Strake’s full-week high-adventure program for older Scouts ages 13+. Participants remain with and camp alongside the troop while participating in a special high-adventure schedule.

Additional Program Fee: $250
The program is partially subsidized by donors.

Activities include:

  • 🚀 Trip to NASA + transportation — $125 value
  • 👨‍🚀 Train Like an Astronaut Program
  • 🏍️ ATV riding for Scouts ages 14+ — $75 value
  • Zip lining
  • High ropes course
  • COPE
  • Climbing
  • Shooting sports
  • Aquatics
  • Primitive camping for one night on the Lone Star Trail

🎯 PROGRAM & MERIT BADGE FEES

Some merit badges and activities require additional fees for ammunition, materials, kits, or other supplies.

Known additional fees include:

  • Metalworking: +$12
  • Rifle Shooting (.22 caliber): +$20
  • Shotgun Shooting: +$20
  • Welding: +$10

Any additional program fees will be identified in the class descriptions and must be paid with your camping fees.

Note: Eagle-required status depends on the requirements applicable to the individual Scout. Scouts should work with troop leadership when planning their merit badge schedule.


🛶 OTHER CAMP STRAKE PROGRAMS

In addition to merit badges, Scouts may have opportunities to participate in:

  • BSA Complete Angler
  • Cowboy Action Shooting
  • Voyager – First-Year Camper Program
  • Mile Swim
  • Paul Bunyan Woodsman
  • Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP)
  • Swim Instruction

Voyager is especially recommended for Scouts attending Scouts BSA summer camp for the first time.


🚐 TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS

Safety First!

The troop will travel together as a group to and from Camp Strake.

Departure/Return Location: Bethesda Baptist Church

Sunday, June 6

  • Meet at Bethesda Baptist Church
  • Depart together for Camp Strake
  • Scouts should bring a packed/sack lunch
  • Rest stops as needed
  • Arrive at Camp Strake and check in

June 7–12

All scheduled meals and activities will take place at camp.

Sunday, June 13

  • Pack and prepare for departure
  • Travel home as a troop
  • Rest stops as needed
  • Scouts should bring money for a snack during the return trip

💵 SCOUTS SHOULD BRING MONEY FOR

These expenses are not included in the camp fee:

  • Packed lunch for Sunday, June 6
  • Food/snacks purchased during travel stops
  • Camp Trading Post purchases, snacks, and souvenirs
  • Snack during the return trip on June 13

Please avoid sending Scouts with excessive spending money.

🩺 MEDICAL FORMS

ALL CAMP MEDICAL FORMS ARE DUE MAY 1, 2027.

Additional instructions about required medical forms, physicals, and submission procedures will be provided before the deadline.


📚 MERIT BADGE SELECTION

The troop will provide the finalized merit badge schedule and selection information in March 2027.

Scouts should review the available programs ahead of time and begin thinking about:

  • Eagle-required merit badges they need
  • Badges that are easier or more enjoyable to complete at summer camp
  • Prerequisites that must be completed before camp
  • Additional program fees
  • Whether they want to participate in specialty programs instead of a traditional merit badge period

Whether you’re working toward First Class, earning Eagle-required merit badges, tackling Mission Lone Star, hitting the shooting ranges, climbing, paddling, or just enjoying a week at camp with the troop, Camp Strake 2027 is going to be an adventure!
