2027 High Adventure Philmont Trek Info

Troop 11’s Requirements for High Adventure Philmont Trek

  • 14yo or older and First Class or higher before trek
  • Actively participate in pre-trek preparation activities scheduled for your crew
  • Complete First Aid, CPR, and Wilderness First Aid Training
  • Must meet Philmont height/weight and medical guidelines at start of trek
  • Complete a High Adventure Health & Medical Record (including physical)
  • Commit to a physical fitness exercise plan to prepare for the trek
    • Exercise 3-5 times a week for at least an hour to prepare for Philmont
  • Actively participate in Philmont crew meetings to be held at 6pm before regular troop meetings
  • Be active in your patrol and troop, providing leadership, and attending regular troop activities
  • Make monthly payments to cover the cost of the trek and preparation

Costs:

Total cost for the trek is $2,422 (12 monthly payments of $201.83 due May 2026 – Apr 2027)

  • Cost includes Philmont’s trek fee, pre-trek hikes/shakedowns, CPR & Wilderness First Aid training, travel to and from Philmont, and 3 crew t-shirts.
  • Fundraising opportunities, including popcorn, camp cards, and flags, are available to help offset costs. The Philmont crew may plan additional fundraisers.
  • Philmont offers need-based scholarships for part of their trek cost, applications open Oct 2026
  • Once trek fees have been paid to Philmont ($150 upon registration, $815 Oct, $815 Mar), they are non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • Any funds paid by Troop 11 are non-refundable once the troop incurs the cost.
